Backlighting

Backlighting

While walking on the trail, I saw this lone stalk being backlit. I tried to include the tree on the left, but the sun was directly behind it, so I couldn't get as much in the shot as I would have liked.

Lone Apple

Lone Apple

This apple caught my eye as I was walking along. It was the only apple still hanging on the tree. It was taken at dusk, so I got the blurred, darker background with the focus on the lone apple.

Moss

Moss

I tried a little different angle on this tree to add some visual interest. I liked how this tree was laying down and the moss was growing out of the inside.

Shadows

Shadows

I wasn't sure what C was taking a picture of, but I stood behind him and saw our long shadows in the late afternoon sun and couldn't resist. As it turns out, this shot gave us a good idea for our Christmas card picture.

Strong visual lines

Strong visual lines

As we were walking along, I came upon C waiting for me. He hadn't heard me come up and was just gazing off into the distance, at the same angle as the fallen tree. Perfect!

Wandering

Wandering

C was ahead of me on the hiking trail and all I could see was how cool he looked against the sun and horizon. A true wanderer!

Wandering 2

Wandering 2

Trying to go for good composition on this one, but missed a couple of the primary rules. Oh well, I still like it.

Weeds 1

Weeds 1

Since I got my new camera, C and I decided to go on a little nature hike so I could play with some of the features. A lot of my shots were close ups of varisous weeds working on depth of field.

Weeds 2

Weeds 2

Another depth of field between the 2 weeds. I also couldn't resist the brilliant blue of the sky that day.

Weeds 3

Weeds 3

Not so much depth of field, but this was more about composition.

Weeds 5

Depth of field along with the rule of thirds for composition.
