Guava Flowers

This is yet another late birthday card. I used the Garden Whimsy set with the colors Wild Wasabi, Groovy Guava and Purely Pomegranite. The butterfly is raised on dimensionals. Otherwise the card is pretty simple.

Flowered Birthday

I love that I've finally had a bit of time to do some stamping. This card is a late birthday card for my MIL. I'm not sure what the stamp set is - it's an acrylic set from Hobby Lobby - but I like it a lot. The colors are Rose Red, Orchid Opulence and Whisper White. I also used some white mulberry paper as edging on the focal layer. The two orchid flowers are raised on dimensionals and I added pearl brads to the centers as well as diamond stickles as highlights on the flowers. I also added clear rhinestones to the centers of the red flowers.

Engagement Congrats

One of my best girlfriends just got engaged and this is the card I made for her. Colors are Real Red, Basic Black and Whisper White. The dress is from the SU! set Haute Couture and I used French Script stamped in red on the background. I used my Versamarker to color in the dress and heat embossed with hologram highlights EP so the dress sparkles. The white layer also has some black smudges on the edges. I finished the card off with a black feather and a couple of square black brads.

A Couple of Goofy Things

I've got a couple of goofy things to share today. First is this picture of Barack O'Llama. I LOVE it! I was watching a CNN video about political candidate caroling by Jeannie Moos (who always seems to have the best stories), and this came up. Very, very clever.

I also have the new Jib Jab video to share that's a recap of 2007 set to Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire song. If you haven't watched a Jib Jab video, I highly suggest you check them out. They are very good at making fun of almost anything.

Scallops with Tarragon Cream and Wilted Butter Lettuce

If you like scallops at all, this recipe is awesome! It was fairly easy also. I think the trick is to really dry the scallops and get the butter very hot so the scallops will brown nicely. I know that if the scallops are too moist, they don't brown very well at all.

Also, you have to try the wilted butter lettuce. I don't always try the eclectic sides that are recommended as part of certain recipes, but I tried this one and it was very nice. It turned out to be a bit like wilted spinach.

Amazingly Simple Home Remedies

This was an email I received and just had to post it for all to enjoy. Of course, my favorite is the reminder at the end!

1. If you are choking on an ice cube, simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat.  Presto!  The blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the females about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

4. For high blood pressure sufferers ~ simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure on your veins.  Remember to use a timer.

5. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives.  Then you will be afraid to cough.

7. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape.  If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.  If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

8. Remember - everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

9. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.

Remember: Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

Yes, I have been a bad blogger.

My apologies to anyone who actually reads my blog. I have been a very bad blogger for some time now and I know it. But, my class is almost over (my final exam is tonight!) and my time should be a little more clear to start doing all of the creative and craft things I love to do and share. Aside from being really busy with work and class, both of our vehicles are having major difficulties right now. So, as the cliche goes...when it rains it pours. It all started last week when my DH was in an accident. Thankfully nobody was hurt, just the vehicles (a kid slid through a stop sign and Cody T-boned them) and our SUV was still drivable, just not pretty. That was until last night. I was driving the SUV b/c Cody was trying to take my car in for a leak. Well, he couldn't get the car in, which means it's still leaking, and on my way home last night, our SUV just stopped running. Yep. So there I was, in the dark, on the side of the road, in about 10° weather, and when I called our insurance company's help line (American Family), I got a kid who gave me similar service as I expect when I go to Walmart...he gave me the names and numbers of towing companies he was getting off of Yahoo Yellow Pages. Maybe I expect too much, but come on. I'm stranded in the country and the kid acted like it was a bother for him to have to help me out. Maybe I should just be thankful the 800 number didn't take me to a foreign country where the operator barely spoke English. Ugh!

Sorry about that...I just needed to vent a little.
